I was attending a funeral in Elliott County Kentucky last year. Way up in one of the hollers and as I drove past this old store I had to stop and take a picture or two. About 60 years ago me and a couple of my uncles who are about the same age as me one even younger would converge on Granny's hen house and take a few eggs down to the store and trade them for a bottle of RC Cola and a snickers candy bar. Granny had I'm sure already talked to the store owner and of course he would sell the eggs and make a profit so everything was on the up and up ,but it sure leaves a lot of memories for the little guy from way up in Ohio who only got to visit once a summer. Now that little old store just looks like a run down house with a nice front porch, but back then there wasn't any Walmart, Target or even a Kroger store within many miles,but every little area had a small General Store that catered to the public. Anyone ever remember these old stores.
